Seabrook's bon odori danceWow, it feels weird, but I've finally written a new Nikkeiview column, the first in a year and a half. I've just been too busy (I know, it's a lame excuse), but by writing these Nikkei Blog posts, I've been inspired to finally sit down and write a longer column. It helps that I went last weekend to southern New Jersey with a JA group to Seabrook's annual Bon Odori dance. Read the column here, and let me know what you think.

The humidity here isn't merely a statistical aspect of the weather, like the temperature and the times of the sunrise and sunset. It's different from the forecast, which is about the future and therefore, abstract.

I have never flown to Newark yet when there hasn't been a delay. Erin's flight from Denver is now an hour late, and it's past 1 a.m. Newark (EWR) sucks....

Here's one reason I enjoy working in Jersey City's Journal Square: One of the best meals is from the dumpy-looking pizza joint, "Three Guys from Italy," which is run by Latinos. Next door is a burrito joint touting authentic Mexican grub, which is run by... a couple of Chinese women.

Great statement from Scott Brodeur, the nattily dressed Managing Editor for Web Site Development at Advance Intermet, when I asked him how far Grove Street Station is from Journal Square in Jersey City, where our offices are.

Buttermilk fried chicken from Chef E's, with fried green tomatoes, spicy cabbage and mashed sweet potatoes.
Ain’t it great when a dining experience is positively orgasmic? I for one, live for those meals. The first meal with the AAJA Link student staff at the AAJA convention in Minneapolis was one of those great foodfests.
